Journal Entry 2


Activity:
- Imported 2DGameKit
- Followed the walkthrough
- Lost all progress after Unity crashed
- Followed rest of the walkthrough at home
- Finished 1 level
- Decorated the level

Notes:
This tutorial was little more engaging, although not perfect. Its nice to have little highlight around the character, but rest of the level was dark. It was pain putting decorations into the scene cause of that. Also many of the decoration sprites were tiiiiiiiiiiiiiny.  I imagined the world would have large plants, rocks, debris and such, to look alienating, but some sprites were as big as the characters toes. I had to scale many of them up. I also had to disable a chunk of Camera's code, cause it broke once I moved the character in the hierarchy. I put a lot of existing assets into a parent object called Level, so I can move it all at once with respect to the backgrounds. I scaled the background as well, cause the parallax scrolling was too fast for my liking. I would decorate the level more, I didn't find the motivation with the available assets.

Making the project work: ~20 minutes
